I put a gio 125 engine In my 85 atc 70 the stock throttle cable doesn't work the wire part is too long due to the stock carb having a large brass piece sticking out. Also I bought a pack of cables for off shore bikes and none work as a clutch is just too long as well. I'm really wanting to use the stock throttle. Please help :)

I ended up buying 3 different clutch cables before I found the right one for my Lifan 125. I bought the thumb throttle and cable from www.atc70.com

you can go to any decent bike shop and they usually can fab up a custom cable for around $24 that fits perfectly. i had to do my son's cables that way as we have moded the atv so much nothing stock fits. lol

ok heres some pics of it 147280147281147282147283 ill look into a shop to get it shortened. are we talking bicycle shop or a motorcycle? also was wondering if this engine runs a wiring harness? it looks like the cdi could plug right into the engine. i remember my pitster pro had a harness. the pic of the throttle shows the slide closed and the slack in the cable.

ok what you have there sir is one of the better performing 125cc stocker engines. instead of the old 6.5-7hp yours has 9hp. it has the bigger head stud pattern with larger valves and better springs. piston will be a 9.5-10:1 stock instead of 8.5-9:1. now you could have a 54mm bore and stroke or a 56stroke and 52mm bore. but either is fine. on my son's we turned it into a 133cc by using the 56mm stroke and 54mm bore with a 15.5:1 piston and we are getting about 18.5 hp out of it. but i will tell you i have over $1k wrapped up in the top end with custom alloy jugs, special pistons, tons of head work and custom cam and valves.
anyway, your lookin at around 9hp.

oops forgott to add, motorcycle shop. (i don;t go to bycicle shops, around here it's just fruits and nuts there.)

i jsut thought of something, have you troght about switching over to a 200x throttle and switch? they are nicer and work more sound. just a thought. that slack woudl probebly allow it to bolt right into a 200x setup or of nothing else a 200s throttle.

You do need to get a harness. I bought mine from Hooper Imports, they sell a "simple" one for 14$ You will need to do a little cutting and splicing, but it is pretty straight forward. The cable that runs from the motor and physically plugs into the CDI is not for the CDI, it is a gear position sender. It grounds one wire at a time to show what gear the trans is in. It is confusing that it uses the same plug as the CDI.

The prices add up don't they? I ordered throttle cables from Sterdy products, but they too are on back order, I ordered 4 and am still waiting on 2. before you grind off the brake lever, if the bar is in good shape you might want to sell it and buy a high rise handlebar to help with knee clearance. Keep this in mind when ordering cables as well, a taller handlebar usually needs longer cables.

I ended up getting Honda 125 replacement carbs as they have the fuel inlet on the correct side, as well as the choke. I did have to trim the choke lever to clear the fuel tank but they seem to work well so far.

I used this throttle:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Throttle-Lever-Thumb-Controller-Assembly-ATV-Quad-Pit-bike-110cc-150cc-TaoTao-/120902089083?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2653797b&vxp=mtr

And this switch from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062508 I drilled a hole in the center bolt for the front forks and ran the wiring through the fork tube. It is nice and clean, and keeps the wiring off the handlebars as well.

hey murf, next time you need one of them parts, let me know. TaoTao is my son's sponsor. we ge free parts all the time. i think i have 1 or 2 throttles in a box. once i get into the house and seltted, I'll have access to all my parts and can give stuff to you as needed.
