Just thought I'd post up a little eye candy. Anybody got a set like these or know who made them? They have a few cracks, someone tried to do a poor reair on. I plan on restoring these one day and putting a Mrs. Mosh seat on then. :)

Those are cool. I would never expect someone to cough up the massive finances for it, but those would be awesome to have molds made and re-poped. But the cost would be well into the thousands.

Wow... Sundahl huh? I got these a few years back when I bought out an old racer. I got two complete R's and one in the middle of restoration. I almost missed them too, right before I left, I noticed a little red sticking up from some boxes. I aked if they were for the R and he said "yea, just some old busted up fenders, you can have them if you want." Here is a few more pics...

Maier and Fullbore will repop them in plastic. But you are going to pay out the nose for the molds.

I actually called maier a couple times last month and left messages to talk with their product support personnel. They haven't called me back yet...LOL. I will try fullbore, thanks for the information!

You need to ask for Jeff, and/or Mark. Mark is the owner, and he is who we spoke with when we had our molds made. Jeff is more of a hands on guy over there, so he should be able to work with you. You will have to send in your fender to get an estimate first, but they will take care of it once it gets there.

Fullbore may be a little more expensive, but has a much more relaxed custom order policy and Grant is a very nice guy to work with also.
There colors are also a little different than Maier.

What about re-making them from fiberglass, not near as expensive, right? Any fiberglass pros here interested in the project?

Fiberglass would be much cheaper. What you would need to do is to repair thr part to perfection, literally, and then cast it. After it is cast, you layer on the glass and resin until you have the thickness that you are looking for. It is a time consuming process, but would be much cheaper than making them in plastic.

Cool deal, I plan on repairing them and the bottom side is no problem, I may put another layer on them once the cracks are fixed to beef them up. It also looks like there was a support bar of some sort across the back that is missing. It is a v shaped channel molded across, it looks like something was there prior to the breaks and both ends of the v are broken. As far as making them look good, how would I go about repairing the gel coat? The fenders are spider webbed all over and I would think a new coat of gel would do the same thing as soon as it flexed? How would several thin layers of resin hold up? They would just have to be painted then.

If you re-gel them, you will need to grind off the old gel coat and re-gel them. Once this is done,it shouldn't spiderweb. After this, you can make a mold and put the part back into production.

They are fiberglass. Do you mind posting a pic of yours? Any one else have a set of fiberglass R fenders?

I am going to make my own set of low pro fiberglass rear fenders when I get to that point.

Probably won't be as nice as the mass produced ones, but will serve my purpose just fine. I am going to get a used set of fenders, drill holes next to the seat where is swoops down and fill it in with Bondo until level with the rest of the fender. The holes are so it has something to grab to. The make the cast from the top side of the fenders. I want to make a shroud on the left side for the oil cooler mod.

Here are the pics of my fiberglass low profile rear fenders, would love to know if they are SRP or not.
I would like to be able to reproduce them for people. Or would be happy to help someone with the knowledge and know how.
I do like my plastic ones better, lighter, flexible

I have no idea who made the fenders but I can tell you there are some similarities in the two. First is the construction of glass is the same, looks like both seat pans were made with chop glass then the fenders themselves are of the weave material. Second, the lines and contours on the front part of both are the same, the only difference I see is the rear styling and mine has a support brace across the back. Thanks for posting the pics!

Those fenders are pretty sweet! Are these that I have typical low profile Maier fenders? That's what I assumed they were. They are vacuum formed plastic in the Maier tradition. Does Maier still offer these?

Hey BWard, as of today, I have a fiberglass shop lined up, not plastic. Do you do plastic molding? I'm going to start a new thread on the info I got today.

Shortline10, My fenders were the same as xman2rmans fenders?? Someone did a nice job and did alot of work to rework them.
xman2rman, I wish I was into plastic molding, If I did, I would have a fair amount of fenders on the market. No Molding for me.
