i am thinking of buying a 250R to fix up from a buddys bro
all i know abou the bike is that its tore down and in pices in a basket
year unknown

what im wondering is how crazy wouldi have to get with the motor to hang with a Raptor (pipe, filter, jets, tires)

are the swing arms from the atc and trx interchangeable?

whats the dif between taperd and doube berings?

whats a fair price for the
aircooled and liquid?

thanks
Joe
ps bike would mainly see trails not racing so reliability is top priority

A stock 83/84 R has 24hp. 85/86 R's have 39hp.

Stock watercooled Rs beat stock raptors on any surface. An 83/84 R would need some major engine mods to compete with a raptor.

I believe the 86 R's had 37 hp...still thats pretty darn good considering most modern 250 two stroke motocrossers put out in the 42 to 46 range.

I'm positive it's 39hp for the 85/86 250R.

I thought the 83/84 was 29 or 30 hp, but I could be wrong.

I race a guy I work with on his raptor. My 83 r bored 60 over got spanked by the raptor with a aftermarket silencer. I just kept adding on until I beat it. It took a DG pipe and silencer, around 270$, The pipes were not quite enough, so I put boyeson power reeds in, 47$, Beat him by alot off of the start but he had me still in top end.
