When I got my 86 Tecate it had an ignition system from a KXF Tecate 4. I have been trying to figure out why this was done. Could it have been that the parts were just easier to get? From what I can figure, the last time this bike ran was 10-15 years ago.
An ignition system for my project is still down the road a ways but I was thinking about the set up tonight and was wondering if maybe there was a performance advantage (or disadvantage for that matter). If I should keep the KXF system or go back to a KXT system. I tried to make a comparison of some of the factors between the two systems. A couple things I noticed, the KXF seems to have less advance in the timing and a higher lighting output.
