I was going to install new clutches in my brothers 86 350X and noticed all around the clutch basket (behind it and around it) that it looked like a bunch of cracks, spider web like cracks in the trans casing. Has anyone seen this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure its cracks or is it built into the casting? Are you the one with the Tiger 80? Get pics yet?

It' cracks, no doubt in my mind. I've never seen anything like it before and just hoped someone had seen this before. I'm afraid to put it back together so for now shes just sitting up. Anyone know what I should do.
Pics will be up soon. It's dark when I get home so I will have to do it on a weekend. But I will post soon so you guys will know im not pulling anyones leg.

I haven't seen this problem with the 350x motors I've rebuilt, but I would suggest that if your crankcase is cracked around the input shaft you check the bearings for excessive wear. Also check the shaft to be sure it's not bent ("running out" in machine shop lingo) Also check the cluch basket, it might have some problems if either of the items I mentioned are bad. I have noticed spider crack type lines on some Honda castings, but they weren't actually cracks, just a by-product of the casting process. I would suggest a serious cleaning and inspection is order. If you can send some pics I might be able to offer a bit more help on this one.
