how do u know if its a long rod motor?

It will have the 87-89 piston or the 85-86 piston with a spacer plate.

so if it is supposed to be stock it will not have the long rod?

87-89 were long rod motors from the factory. i have an 86 motor with the 87-89 long rod with an aftermarket spacer plate under the cylinder to raise it the difference of the two rods
