Is this an OEM Tecate part??

So I got this tecate adjustable rear link. Just wondering if it's an OEM part.

This did not come with the recent tecate I purchased. I got it on eBay.

Ok. So this would just be for the '86 & '87s correct?

The 1st gen tecates r a shorter link and have less overall travel right?

1st Gen is a solid link. That could also be off of a KX, but they are the same thing. You can buy the dirtbike ones for nothing.

I have heard of guys using these on the first gens with the 300ex shocks or other shocks

I tried using one of those on my 84/85 half breed that sports a 86/87 swing arm extended after the shock pivot and it caused the rear to sit way too low for comfort. Was running a 300ex shock at that time.
Even fully extended I did not have a heck of a lot of clearance under foot pegs and being shifter foot is below shifter on the get go, I caught my left foot rather hard ONCE.
Went back to stocker.

Wow. I would have never guessed that with the adjustable link it would sit low. The adjustable link is a lot shorter then the solid link in the 1st gen tecates. At least it is for the '84 I just bought. I just checked. See I thought that the adjustable wouldn't fit a 1st gen tecate and that there was a shorter adjustable link made for the 1st gens.

So when people say they r using an adjustable link on a 1st gen it is just a link for the '86/'87 tecates??

I can't rember off hand which is the longer but the 84 and the 85 links are not the same. I'm thinking the 84 was longer. The whole rear suspension is different from 84-85. maybe thats where john ran ito a problem using the adjustable link. It bolts right up to an 85

hmmm. good to know. I'm planning on using the +2 Franks swing arm, on an '85 build i am restoring. right now it is on an '84. I'm hoping to use an adjustable link and a 300ex shock.

well im running one of these on my 1st gen tecate. i am running a raptor 660 rear shock. and with my heavy ass (290lbs) it doesnt sit much lower than it would be with no weight on it

I'm looking at this on my phone so I can't see the pictures, but I'm guessing you've got an 86-87 link there. I always used those on my 85's, both with the factory shock and the EX shock. I don't know what the problem is that Johnny ran into, but I had excellent results with those links. You could drop the arse end to the ground or raise it up so high it would be stink-buggin.

Yeah, heck just try it. I am sure in my case it may have been a combination B-1/B-2 swing arm extended on A-1/A-2 model.

Sounds good guys. Thanks for all the info. I got my hands on 2 adjustable links now. Both r the OEM one. So I have 1 '84 tecate and 2 '85 tecates that I am using to restore and make one good '85. Then parting verything else out. And now I have the franks swingarm, stock '85 swing arms, and stock '86 swing arm. So I'll be able to check distances and match things up during the process of restoring the '85 and my '86.
