I am in a real bind and need a clutch cable quick for a 86 350x,at least the motor is.When looking on ebay alot of cables say fits both 85 and 86.When I tried a 85 cable it came up short, plus it looks like overall cable length is short. So they can't be the same?

I thought they were the same, but I checked the OEM part numbers and they are different. Also, I looked up the aftermarket 85 cable and it said 85 only... I didn't realize they were different, but it maybe makes sense since the routing is different between 85 and 86. Must have changed the cable too.

I knew oem listed different,85 has guarding for exhaust. What worries me is sellers listing the 86 and it is the same they sell for 85.

Just get a "motion pro" cable and you should be fine.....................

Yeah, 85 and 86 and different routing and different lengths. the 85 goes down by the exhaust and to the right side of the motor, sort of like a 400ex. 86 goes down on the left and goes under the carb and across.

I ordered a motion pro cable for my 86. When I got it it looked liek the 85. Motion pro had the oem part number on it, it crossed to an 85.

Jay, I've got a decent used cable. I know honda recently discontinued the 86 cable...

PM me if you cant find anything.

That was a fluke, I only use Motion pro cables on everything I build and that has never happened to me. They are VERY nice cables and work as well as factory cables do IMO.

Think so? This is the second issue I've had with them. I personally will buy used oem over a new motion pro....

My first issue was on a trx250r clutch cable, I replaced last year at the dunes, didnt really seem that great, was hard to pull and just felt gritty. Got home and put an oem on it and it was like new....
