quick question. i just bought a 350x out of a ladys barn. was a little rough but new the ladys nephew and he said that his late uncle took good care of it an maintained it well. anyways got it cleaned up cleaned carb and fired right up. my prob is it runs great with choke on once i turn off choke it runs good at open throttle, but once i let off it wants to back fire and wont idle. i was running 2yr old gas so in process of draining tank and gonna throw new plug in today. this may be the culprit. any sugestions otherwise. this is my 1st 350x and i gotta say i love this thing ive only ever owned tri-z's and never thought i would shy away from 2-strokers but this thing is fun.

I would start with fresh gas,a fresh plug and a proper carb cleaning. sounds like the pilot jet is restricted

At full choke or half? If its at half you might just need to turn the idle up. Hows the throttle play?

runs good at full choke and half choke. choke off engine idle drops off and motor dies.

Could you see through your pilot jet? I think your pilot is still clogged.

How's your air filter? Adjust the throttle so that the butterfly is all the way closed, then use the idle screw to set idle. That bike just isn't getting enough fuel on bottom. What's your air/fuel screw set at?

ok set throttle play so butterfly is closed all the way. double checked the air fuel screw its 1 3/4 out. still runs good with choke on as soon as choke is of it starts backfiring at bottom end and wont idle. valve adjustment maybe? runs great with choke on does seem to flood out or any thing but with choke off runs good at wot as soon as of throttle backfires a bit and wants to die.
