Glasses man! What it will cost you to get the metal out of your eye.You could buy a mint seat.Unless it is a really rare item scrap it.

I wouldn't grind it. Sand/bead blast it instead. Or just buy a fiberglass reproduction unit from Ric at ATCHeaven.

Looks to me that he's grinding away on an '83-'85 Honda ATC110/ATC125M seat base. Try finding 1 of those in mint/good shape. Pretty much non existant.

Brazing rod and a torch will be your best friend if you plan on fixing this one.

Pull them away from your eyes about 1/8 of an inch and they wont fog. Happens to me too. Safety first Punkin!

That pretty much defeats the purpose of the glasses, I have seen guys doing that, and know of 1 guy that got a piece of tunsten in his cornea, and another with an eyeful of pitch. Buy good glasses and wear a full face shield when grinding, preferably OVER safety glasses. IMHO grinding or any metalwork without safety glasses and or a face shield is WORSE than riding without a helmet.

I have one of Ric's seat pans. Very nice work. You'll have to glue the cover on but that's not a problem.

If you know how to do fiber glass you can use your old seatpan as template and make you own.Couple guys made them for their 250r.stroberts and rollingmenace. They are both members on here.I think they have a thread on it.

Also you can contact DCplastic about making them. You would have to send them a seatpan to copy.
