Well couple weeks ago I picked up. 86' frame and forks, ever sense hen I been on a full blown restore/build project, here is my progress so far! Please let me know what you think I love my r and been wanting one since I have been a child, I'm very excited

Body: Ordered all new plastics from mair, had the frame blasted and Painted, my rear fenders came in, they are the low profile race type. I restored the tank myself, using soft wife buff, then a leather lathe. Got my air box and hoses off eBay with a new k&n, swing arm bearings on way, stealing stem, got my front tire and rim on, got my triple trees in, and radiators and mounts, I need a seat pm me if you have one. Debating on what swing arm I want, and suggestions.

Motor: believe it or not but this is a 85' that has zero hours of run time on this motor! Back when they banned the3 wheeler Honda shops cut the motors off the frames, and sold hem to high schools for small engine class, let's just say me and my high school shop teacher were very close friends and he gave me one for graduation present back in the day! It's dusty but it has never been ran except when me and my teacher cranked it up in his class to make sure! The bad news my mother moveditinmystorage one day and dropped it on a bolt and busted a pinkie tip size hole in bottom of the case :( I have to get someone to weld it I suppose. I cried literally...It's dusty but it's been in a shed, that's original spark plug from 85 hahaha. I have fmf fatty I bought new for it and silencer, if I get swing arm soon I should have it all rolling around by next 2 weeks!

I would Really Love to see a few more pictures of your rear fender, Maier told me they have not made those for years and the mold was scrapped.

Soft wire buff** haha the engine will be cleaned for sure! I just had to take a pic count wait longer lol.

And yes they are rare! Story is last week I went to my local parts shop, I know the guy personally and he was like I think I have some old plastics from way back in the day brand new in the bag, I was like cool, came down with them and I have never seen them before, and I was like I'll take em! He said they have been upstairs in storage for a LONG time, any info if these are rare?

Putting them back in the bag reminds me of people who put plastic covers on their couch! Use them! Why else would you want them?

Well My plans are to flat track race this bike some, not to win, just for fun, my father did it when he was younger on 86' r and it will mean a lot to me. But I have old set of plastics I'm going to race with, not tearing my new ones up lol.

And here is what I started with, minus the forks and Tripple trees and tire rim, I bought that

Coming right along! That's my favorite part when you can get the fenders on and see how good you did!

Thanks everyone, I got my answer silencer in today, and it cranked first kick! Couldn't believe it, and ours like a kitten, still has the original spark plug from 1985 haha. I also won a boyesen reed valve system on eBay last night, most likely going to update to a 36mm carb to help her flow with the good exhaust and rad valve
