My gas tank was covered in gas tank putty, so I decided to find out why, so I got rid of it and realized all of that or a pin hole size leak. But I also want to remove the big ol dents. The only thing I have to that is a slide hammer. So I think Imma dill it out, pull the dents and paint it. My question is, is there something I can use to plug the holes that's sand able? Cause Imma paint it, or is there another way to remove dents?

i havent tried it on a tank but i have heard of people putting water in 2 stroke pipes stuffing them in the freezer and letting the expanding water push them out but i dont know if that would work on a tank. another method i have heard is filling it with water, sealing it, then heating the dent with a torch. the heat will soften the metal and the pressure increase from the water heating pops it out. but dont know if the tank would be to thick to try that. just make sure that you fill it all the way with water to push all fumes out.

I've heard of tanks balooning if left in the sun with the vent closed so maybe it would work.
