I'm ready to buy a new carb for my R. It currently has a BDT 295, ESR ATC5 exhaust and intake, boyesen reeds with spacer, and a 19cc dome. Do you think it will run right with a 41mm or 40mm carb? I mainly trail ride, drag it, or hill climbs. I would like to rebuild my spare motor this winter into a 330 stroker, but it all depends on fundage. Any advice would be appreciated. :wondering

I ran a 39mm on a basically stock jug, PT Hi-Rev pipe 86R. It ran great so I would say if tuned right that would be a good setup.

I've never run a 40.5, but I run a 39 PWK on my 310 and ran it on my ported stock cylinder. It was a good boost all around, but especially up top. It also is much easier to get the jetting dialed in with. Is yours a big bore cylinder or a 310 sleeved oem? What type of porting did BDTM do?

The current jug on it is a sleeved oem. As far as the porting goes, Carlos said it was ported for,"mid-top end performace." I think I'm going to go ahead and get this 40mm that has just been cleaned and freshly rebuilt. I started to tear down my spare motor yesterday. It had burnt a hole in the side of the piston and was fouling plugs like crazy, but ran strong till the end. I've always wanted to get a 310 or 330 project started with a CR ignition. So I thought, maybe if I open that spare motor up it might motivate me to buy a couple parts every week..... Especially if its taking up precious space in my garage. lol Thanks

If you have a mid-top port, then that carb should work good. I'm assuming its a kiehin pwk?

I didn't get the 40mm I had planned on getting. Talking back and forth with the guy seemed fishy. He didn't know the jets, and didn't want to open it up to find out. Told me it was a "regular old pwk 40mm" and hadn't been ported.... I might be wrong but isn't the biggest size a 39mm before porting. However, my neighbor MIkey had just purchased a Polaris 400 over the weekend and came with 3 carbs. The biggest carb wouldn't allow him to use the stock air box, and Mikey likes to play in the mud and has no use for it or the set of 22x10x8 snow tires. I offered him $50 bucks, and my old 5/20 chain in trade and he jumped on it.:w00t: So, its a 39mm which is cool, better than what I had. The part number is PWK 72RA4 REL. I have reseached for hours and cannot find out what the "REL" means. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
