How long does it take for most of you to do a rebuild from the frame up? I am just a working joe so I have to save up for my parts and sometimes I get bummed cause it takes so long to do it...
what are your thoughts?

On average, depending on what I am doing my builds take 1 to 2 years. The current build I am will likely take 3, but I am really anal.

It is based your idea of a rebuild, amount and availability of parts and time available....
I did one - Soup to nuts in 20 days. But it was HARD and if I didn't have the parts, it wouldn't have got done.

4-5 months and most of it is waiting for parts, but like they said depends what you want to do to it and part availablity and how long a day you work on it. also that is for a rider for a show bike I can see years

The most important part is taking notes and pictures.
THATS how to avoid 25 threads asking what goes where and how unless it was previously molested.
Do that, order parts (wait until it's all apart), then ask about upgrades.
Piece of cake if you pay attention, (you just need money and availability); I myself have torn heads off of vehicles and the damn emissions vac lines screw me up! Everyone thinks they'll remember but they don't in time..........

A dot on the hose and a dot where it goes.

Great Idea, I actually had thought of that because I tossed a couple and she had a crapload of polish in all different colors :(

I've learned NOT to tear down anything down until I have a plan and the funds to complete it. Better to leave it sit in one piece until you are ready to start. It's like a marathon, you have to be fully prepaired to see it to the end BEFORE you start. My frame up projects typicaly take from 2 to 24 months. The ones that took longer usualy never got done right.

^IDK what you have but I have seen many a 250R just run and run and run. I guess the most critical would be the oil level, good luck :)

I just finished up my 73 ATC 70 that I got in the summer of 2009. There were alot of reasons it took so long, not in a hurry, had two shoulder replacement surgeries, the grandsons are only two and 15 months old. Take your time and do a good job.
