Just curious what these are going for cost wise now a days and if they are worth acquiring over a 85 one.

I would say that the only decision point for me on the 350X motor would be the stator system. The 86 is preferred for its upgrade capability, but other then that the only thing would be the clutch cable of the 85 gets routed next to the header pipe.

well if i was to build i snotty trail machine (not a big bore monster) i was curious where i should start off at. I have an 85 but i know the 86's have a different cable routing system in addition the oiling system is different.

Yean the oil pickup, cable routing and a few other changes.

I have seen them go for 800-1500$ Aldochini got a couple CHEAP, because they were listed incorrectly.....

EVERYONE loves a crate motor, 85 86.

I'll still bid on them when I see them; They are a tough motor with plenty of torque.

Yes i remember his post about them on ebay! Luck sob. So being the 350x guru that you are- what are your thoughts. Would a 85 motor be acceptable or is an 86 worth the money i would spend to acquire?

IMO If your 85 motor runs fine, leave it be and rock n roll.
