OK so I took my hub apart to replace bearings and have it repainted. got it back awhile ago but I have no idea where the heck I put the axle collar.
do I need this part?
can I just make my own out of some tubing if I need to?
does anyone have one?
can't find one on eBay or anything which is surprising
thanks for any help

Yes you need this part. I am having the same problem but it is probably in one of my boxes of parts from dissasembly. If you find them somewhere, make sure to post where at.

You could make one if need be. the ID needs to fit over the axle and the length needs to fit exactly between the inner bearing races. You should be able to measure the shoulder to shoulder dimension that's inside the hub in which the bearings seat up against to get the proper dimension for length.

Yes, the collar keeps the bearings from side-loading. Without it, they'll probably last one ride, if that.

Before you install it, I'd measure it, if I were you, and stash the measurements somewhere safe. Just in case you ever lose it again, you could make one. :)

my bad...I got all excited n put my collar and bearings and seals in this morning. then got to work n was like ohhh SH!+ I forgot to take measurements. I may buy a hub that still has bearings in it n take it apart though so I have another one n can make some up from that one
