Hello,
In a car muffler sound waves are cancelled out to help with the noise. How does this work in a 2 stroke silencer? Does the packing just absorb the sound waves? I ask this because I don't see any packing in car mufflers :s

Thanks

I think there is a pressure issue. I suspect the pressure caused by the smaller diameter of the stinger section of the pipe and the heat cause the exiting gases to expand and enter the packing when they get the chance. I’m just guessing at this, hopefully someone here knows, but meantime I’ll bet that if you research pistol silencers you’ll learn something.

Hah, that's all I could find via google. One good post on how pistol silencers work. I wasn't sure if it applied to ATV silencers too. Thanks.

Now you've done it. The FBI is going to be watching you from now on!

Googling for fertilizer directly after probably didn't help either...

Actually, if you were to cut up a glass-pack muffler, they are quite similar to a 2 stroke muffler.
