When you buy 30 year old second, third even fifth hand trikes you come across some wierd stuff people have done in the past so let's hear some of them, weirdest, stupidest wins lol I get lots with the regular stuff no brakes and all the brake components non exsistant, parts welded on, at the moment I am trying to drillout where someone welded the foot pegs on the 200x I am rebuilding, but i'm sure you guys can top that stuff and i'm sure i'll even think of some more stuff I came across.oh ya the same trike had roofing nails for codder pins in the tire hub nuts!!!

I buy and part or fix alot of trikes and have seem some dozzies. One of the more dangerous ones is instead of the regular throttle it had a bicycle shifter riged to pull the cable, no return or anything, all manaul. lots of welded shifters, flywheels, kickers, and front sprokects. Also forks with blown seals that had grease zerks on the top and were rock hard and pumped full of grease, insted of fork oil.

-Ok this only with my tri-z .. you can watch my thread for pic of before link---) http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/142378-My-project-Z-%29
--Ok Here what normally is bolt or strapped . Rear exhaust , Rear shock gaz bottle , boost bottle ,front light .. i pass some that i forgot.. All with metallic collar or ty-rap.
-So all the trike frame front fender rear fend shroud were brush painted yellow.. It do a nice clean finish !
-The clutch bolt who retain the spring where almost all different in lenght. ( btw something that turn at this speed dont need to be balanced the mark on inner and pressure plate are decorative, certainly not a balancing mark):S
-THere a side for the water pump seal like one side have a gray spot and when you read the seal Its clearly writed WATER SIDE and OIL SIDE.. so guess wich side the seal was.
-Some electrical tape on the stator.....
-the crank seal on the side of stator was at 30 degree crooked in his slot. ( yea atleast he had a seal..) and dunno why he were not leaking...o.O
-Cant count broken bolt stuck everywhere in the frame.
-AN Impaller is a Pump so it need a minimum clearance behind it and in front of it ... that why they have specific washer plate that set up this minimal range for working great. yea there one washer who place the impaler who was not there so the impaler were simply turning on the case and there one another washer under the PIN of the gear, were not there too.. so the pin were turning on the case Inside... Great trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro job there again.(case can proove this)...
-The guys were running his tri-z with a 2''1/2 x 4 or 5 '' inch hole right at the start of the tune... Well A big strange exhaust with a fun shape mean nothing ,2 stroke straight pipe sound louder so more power !!! arrrgh! (pic on my link proove this )
-Ok what now .. humm running with front and rear completly blow suspension maybe?
-Oh yea rear shaft !! you know to hold the Wheel hub there a ''Crown nut'' that you lock up with a PIn (to not loose a wheel.. yea really) the guys when he saw that he stripped the thread he said ! yea at least ill redo some thread. Ok if there
a place with Fine thread there normally a good reason right ? so there was maybe 5 thread at all ? with a wonderful self locking imperial Nut.( yea self locking at least...im sure no one out here will want to run a trike with a imperial hard thread nut with no PIn to lock it) well that guys was doing it!
Well that it I think... :S Fun

supertrapp exhaust for a 200x was held by self tapping screws to the back of the stock. the headlight bulb was held in by ducktape and cardboard.

Hahaha POWDIDDY my buddy has a 200m like that, its identical !
When i picked my 200s up, it has miss matching tires all around, headlight held on by ductape and hay wire and wireing harness was a hack job.
I had a 185 with a wire stitched seat and where the lever is to pull the rear fender assembly off was held on by a peice of YELLOW ROPE ! Oh yeah and one of the chain links was a weld-on and was skipping teeth. Also had a street bike head light ''as seen in profile pic''.
EDIT- the right had side of the rear axle was cut off short and had a big nut on the end of it, NO PLACE FOR A CODDER PIN OR ROOFING NAIL.

A sock for an airfilter on my 70 and a piece of broomhandle for a pullstart handle. Not too crazy.

Oh ya I like people who use wire to fix everything like on one of my x's they had the rear fender latch wired to stay on with like 5 feet of wire instead of just buying a 20 cent spring

84 Tecate had re-bar used as a rear sub-frame, a chrome sink pipe for an exhaust, and held on with lots of wire. A seat from a early 70's kawasaki dirtbike, and no plastics. The rear hubs were welded on (honda 110 hubs) and 185s throttle and many other things. I actually rode it like this for a litle bit (I bought it at 14 and just wanted to have fun) and even managed to race a new at the time 400ex (neighbors) , and left him far in the dust! He said he could hear me coming from a mile away!! I used to have pics of this beast on here a long time ago, but they are long long gone. This is probly the worst rigged bike I have worked on yet.

I bought an '84 t3 with a chain welded grab bar, dirt bike stands welded to the frame to "support the plastics", rebar welded to to the frame to fix a break, a drilled smooth drain plug with a rubber plug as a drain plug and a bunch of weird other little things. I loled at the grab bar though xD

I bought an 84 200s, the owner said it was stuck in second but turned out that it shifted down instead of up (opposite of whatever normal was, I know it shifted different than the 85). I just cleaned the carb and off I went.
Nothing had cotter pins, No chain tension bolt and there was electrical tape... around the input nipple on the carb because it was cracked. The sprockets were almost smooth lol.
Got it for 75, fixed it up and sold that sucker for 400 : ).

lets see, mines a combo, stuff that was that way, and stuff I did lol, bought it with the stock head pipe bent out 30* to fit into some muffler they found, had to cut the muffler inlet and had it tig welded so that the new DG pipe was a straight shot into the muffler, and instead of bushings for the shock they inserted a big nut to take up the slack, and because of the wheel spacers they removed the wheel studs and used regular bolts, and then i took a broken 250sx front fender tip and zip tie sewed it onto what was left of the 250r fender, I still need to fix the shock lol, working on it, first order of business is getting it to run right..... and as for the cosmetics, who the hell cares, I just don't like eating mud dirt and rocks lol, the fender will stay that way....

My first 185s had the seat foam held on to the rear fender with a huge industrial zip tie, the front fender was "repaired" with deck screws and it had a truck offroad light for a headlight
Rob
I recently bought a banshee and man was this thing rigged up the @ss they hot glued/crazy glue cut and spliced the wiring harness the on/off switch don't work so I have to pop the clutch they stuck this weird looking petcock with an ich of rubber washers that's why the gas wont leak out lol they recover the seat with velvet soft material used for sewing wtf lol?!! The coolant tank is held by 2 zip ties as well as the rear light I can go on lol

there was a 250r on ebay a while back that a friend bought, and someone had replaced the rear master cylinder with one from a car, the other 3 lines kinked to blank them off. It worked i believe, but sure looked nasty :/

Not going to make a long story of all the rigging I have came across on my journey of roached trikes but I will give you the best that I have found.
2 months ago I bought a 1985 250sx. Horrible condition. I got it cheap and I knew that from the get go before I had even arrived, which is why I didn't look it over well at all. Just loaded it up and took it home. The next morning I drove it and made sure everything was ok ie motor, rear end and tranny wise. I parked it and noticed the seller (first)had actually stuffed a rag in a big hole and screwed it down with a big bolt. This was to stop an oil leak.

Wow! That things got style. First thing that comes to mind and I dont know why but could you imagine bringing your girlfriend home to met your parents for the first time and seeing your dad riding around in the yard on that thing acting like nothings out of place on it! Man I like riding trikes but I dont think Id want to be seen in public on that one.
Sorry shortline but I know you didnt leave it in that condition and thanks for saving it!

I have seen a lot of good ones, the link above is one of the last ones. I have seen car tires and rims on 3 wheelers, and I have seen a 185s that a guy put pulleys and a belt in place of the chain and sprockets.
I have even seen a car cut in half and a 3 wheeler front end put on the back so it could drive around. wait, that was my doings. Never mind the last one. LOL

Electrical tape on the swingarm pin to replace one of the bearing. I guess the last owner couldnt get that outer bearing race of the swingarm.
