This was a unexpected local Craigslist find (which certainly won't win any beauty contests!) In my area, I just don't seem to see Tri-Z's at all so I got pretty excited to find this one even in the overall shape that it's in. I thought it would make a good project 3-wheeler!

It seems to be the 796th Tri Z built in 1985. I know nothing about these and am really excitted to research and learn more about Tri-Z's!

The cons include alot of small stuff.......missing headlight, leaking fuel shut-off valve, worn front tire, worn out front shocks, some black spray-painted plastic.

The pros though include alot more......Plastic in great shape without cracks, decent rear tires, good engine and a full DG Exhaust.

Here are pictures of the Ugly Duckling.

Any thoughts/input/education is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Bryan, I'll need it!!

Starting from Square One and not real familiar with the Yamaha's yet, can you point for starters, to a manual for the Tri Z? Is there one that I can download?

Not to hi-jack your thread but how did you find out it was the 796th built in that year? I would love to find out what number my 85 R is because on the sticker it says it was built in 12/84. I ran the vin and it just says its a 85 250r. I also ran the vin on my 86 350x and it said it was a 1980 350x:wondering

Keep us in the loop for sure!! As for the year it really depends on the sticker as to what the date Actually says! I think it was after the 6th month it would be a 86, anyway run it through the gears and it will tell you if the motor is a 86 because of a 6 speed, Good luck and keep up on it!!
