Its not quite done, still some final detailing, but for the purpose of the pic it is finished. I still need to bleed the front brake (it doesnt want to bleed) and fire it up still. The spot on the tank cover is a digital pic phantom, its not really there. It sure is different from when I first bought it! The nickel plated stuff looks really good, its a cheap process and can be done over pitted, rusty metal. Im happy with it. Well, here she is. Before and after. Who says free airs cant be cool??

I put about $800 in it. bought if for $300. I bought alot of expensive parts for it, like the wheels, braided brake lines, etc. I gotta finish it off, but I really got impatient and want to try it out with the 18's out back. I had some 22's, and it was pretty nasty still, with the DG head, reed spacer and a new 20 over piston, PLUS the 18's, it should be pretty scary. I cant wait to try it out! 8)

they are right out of the box. worth the $28.95 each, dont you think?? the front wheel was @ $70, but well worth it, too.

Holic ..... My compliments you did one hell of a job!

Seeing the potential there that you brought out I wish I'd picked up one I let go a couple years ago. 84 model, It had extended axle, a plastic aftermarket gas tank and blue (yes blue) 18" rear tires with giant triangle pattern like hoosiers.

anyway, Awesome Air-Cooled R! :-D

I also rebuilt my 84r and its done, but I can't get the front brakes to bleed or pressure up.I rebuilt the caliper and put a brand new 400ex lever\master cylinder I've worked on them for hours to no avail,I'm at my wits end they just won't pump up.Please tell me if yours works, anybody elses opinion would be appriciated. The line is clear and flows freely the only thing is I'm thinking the new bleeder screw is sucking air,is it possible to suck air and not leak fluid. Please help.

try using a g clamp to push the caliper piston right back as air often gets trapped behind it, then bleed as normal but with g clamp still on, this worked on my tri z and on my mx bikes.

Did you get the frame powder coated or was it just painted? If I had more time and $$ I'd try it myself.
