ok, so my 86 250sx has been gradually getting worse in the kicker department. by the research i've been doing this is likely the one-way clutch bearing. (thanks 3wheelerworld!)

my first question: does it seem likely this would also make a squealing/grinding kind of noise, intermitently, once the engine is running?? thats a new one, just started yesterday. trike still runs, shifts, drives fine. it has made the noise while riding, and while just sitting at idle. sounds like it's coming from the tranny/clutch area, so i'm guessing it's that clutch bearing getting worse. thoughts?

next question: does service honda's site give the actual honda part #? or is it their own stock number?
the reason i ask is i found this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Clutch-One-Way-Bearing-Honda-TRX250-Recon-Many-Models-1985-to-2011?item=140730635381&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3D LVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7279694273771257446 on ebay cheap, and service honda lists the same part# for the atc and trx, but the seller says this part replaces a different honda part # than the #'s listed on service honda's site. i know the oem is prolly a better part, but i'm on a budget. thoughts?

thanks a bunch guys!

Pretty sure that ebay one is for the other side behind the flywheel. You want the one behind the centrifugal clutch on the other side if your kickstart won't grab.

whoa, didn't realize there was more than one. hafta study the exploded views better:(. thanks!

anybody got thoughts as to whether the noise is likely to be that clutch?

The only thing I have noticed when my one way bearing went out was when I shut the machine off, I could still hear the cent. clutch winding down for several seconds until it cane to a stop, and then made a click noise. Does yours do this? The other symptom is going down a steeper hill. If your in gear, and rolling down the hill, it will almost be as if you are in neutral and roll freely, but when you hit the gas at the bottom of the hill, the clutch engages. I dont recall any problems intermitently when the engine is running though.

Hmm, it does make the clicking noise when i shut the engine down. However it compression brakes fine. Mostly the kicker will fail to catch sometimes, and this wierd new noise. It just seems to happen randomly.
