:-D Need Air Cleaner for the '84 225 DX. Original box messed up. Any Suggestions for aftermarket or homemade applications that work well? Thanks, Kevin

Is it the whole airbox you need or is it just that screen thing. If it's just the screen thing I know that K&N makes a generic filter that will fit the DX. The dealer said that they didn't make one, and they don't, for that particular trike. But if you go to the K&N website and search for one they make a generic on that they match to it. Hope that helps. If not post some more detailed info.

I am not sure what all is missing. I am thinking about a K&N clamp on filter to clamp directly to the carb. Or maybe a UNI filter to clamp on. UNI's are only about 16.00, but not sure if I still need the airbox for that one. I know I don't need the box the K&N. about 34.00.

I don't know what kind of terrain you'll be in but your signature says mudslinging... I wouldn't be doing any of that if you get a clamp on or you could risk getting crap in the engine.

Mudslingin' sounds better that parked waiting on parts. :) I ride around the yard a bit getting it ready, but not much, YET. What kind of clamp on you recommend? I found a K&N YA-3225. Not sure it will fit. K&N web site said and RU-1030 was the clamp on. Any suggestions?

Well any clamp on that fits. I know that autozone said that they could order the filter by part number but if you're gonna be getting into any wet stuff when you do take it hunting then I would get a new airbox. It shouldn't be difficult to find a used one. The DX is a relatively common trike.

According to Yamaha I need about 70.00 in parts so...I am going with a clamp on. Either K&N or a UNI whichever I find first. Mud? IN East Texas. I got to change my signature. :D Nothing but sand and trees where I hunt. Thanks
I recommend the clamp on pod type of filter, but also, add on an outerwears cover. It'll keep the mud and other crap from making contact with the actual filter....and it'll last longer...

I got a UNI filter clamp on yesterday. It was originally for a Honda 185S, but I adapted it with the 225's hose and it fits perfect, and out of the way.
How does that DX run with the new filter? Any re-jetting have to be done with the increased air flow?

Well. i only know the way it ran when i got it. after a tank of gas with a little cleaner in it and a air filter on now it runs fine to me. the uni seems to work fine it doesnt smoke near as bad and has good response. heck, i just ride
