Good transmission? Bad transmission?

So im wondering if there is any way to tell if a transmission is good or not just by shifting through the gears while it is parked. thanks.

I have seen transmissions that seemed to shift OK when parked with the engine off, and then malfunction under a load. It can give you an idea, but the best way to know for sure is to run it through the gears under load.
