I have been trying to fix a noise and electric start problem for a while now. I replaced the one-way clutch and that did nothing. Now I'm pretty sure the noise and the starting problems are related. Again the noises are sometimes when i shut down I here a clunk noise and when i tried to kick start and she doesn't start i here almost like a kick back noise. It seems as if my starter is always in the engaged position causing these noises. Can someone explain to me how the starter gets engaged and disengaged. Could this be why i'm getting these noises? Has anyone else had this type of problem? I took the 43/18T gear which connects to the starter and all the noises went away. Ofcourse my electric start will never work this way but atleast i'm not stripping and gears. TIA.

I sure feel for ya!! I've read all the posts in the past months. The one way clutch you replaced was on the clutch side correct?? I know everyone has you headed in that direction but are you sure that the one way flywheel clutch is working correctly?? If you pull that whole coil cover off that big gear should only spin in one direction. Other than that - is a thrust washer missing and binding is occuring somewhere that something needs to spin freely?? Have you ensured that all the parts are in correct with washers and gaskets etc?? It's got to be something stupid and you have to find it or you'll lose more parts. Wanna buy my motor??!!

Don't need a new motor beleive me. We were ripping around all day yesterday. 85 Suzuki LT 230 quad, 2001 Yamaham Big Bear and my 250 sx. I faired out pretty good. Me and the 230 were just about even. This was my first true test with my 250. Two things i noticed with the 250sx:the back shock doesn't have enough travel and the ground clearance isn't that great. Other than that with the 200x front end i kept up just fine. The wheelies it can do our amazing. Third gear and wheel comes right up. Anyway, does anyone have a maintenance book for the 250sx or know where i can pick one up?
