wow long time since ive been on 3 wheeler world.... well i picked up a 1986 big red a few days ago, running stock tires. well....they suck in mud. i ride mostly trails and about 300 yards on the road to get to the trails(but i dont do any turns just a straight shot to the trails). but i do like to hit the mud pits about 6/10 times i ride. so i would like a tire that could handle the road, trails, and mud, and give me good ground clearance. bear claws appealed to me but seemed a bit wide and heavy. i was looking into maxxis zillas. im only looking to fork out less then 130 a tire. any recomendations?

$213 to your door. I put a lot of these on for customers, and have had close friends run them with good results. Wear good, last a long time, and do pretty decent in mud. Peepers runs these all the way around his big red. Im going to invest in the same for mine this summer.

Don't have much experience with the maxxis, but I love the look of the bear claws. The big red will not have any problem with the bear claws. I like the width of the bear claws because it will make the big red more stable, and will give it more traction. I have a pair of mud tires on mine and it do not notice a lack of power.

Not for me. I know several people that have bear claws and they don't have any problem.

what about as a front tire? was thinking about 2 bear claws in the rear then a mudlite mounted backward on the front.

That sounds like a plan to me. The mudlites are a good tire for the front. Someone on here had bear claws all around on his big red.

I have 3 mudlites on my 85 BR and love them.... (no need to spin the front one backward either, mine trails great spinning forward)

If u dont want to spend to much money go with the mud lites, also dont go with bear claws they are kinda hard and they waste some what fast on the street, Mud lites waste some what fast on the street but with the mud lites they are super light and if u get stuck u can always get off the bike and give it gas lol, it will crawl right out the hole.
Also u can go with the 25x13.5x9 super swampers they are super soft compound and thru basiclly glide over the mud and they dont waste as fast on the street.

I plow (and plow alot) all winter long on asphalt, and my Mudlites still look good after 3 years....????
