Sounds like a BAD idea to me. I got to witness a car battery explode, not cool when you are only 5 ft away. My local Interstate battery rep just told me to hook my atv battery up to a charger and put it on boost for a minute or two, then back down to a 2 amp charge for a couple hours.

I would MUCH rather just buy a new battery

There was a post by 300rman and it was for drill batteries.
The thread seems to have disappeared (probably due to the server crash).

it can be done but is more of a temporary fix and is not very safe. basically you double the voltage of the battery and let it boil for a few minutes then put it on a slow charge at normal voltage. The high voltage removes oxidation from the lead plates and lets the lead react to the electrolyte again. It's not very safe and I don't advise it,don't even try it on a sealed maintence free type of battery. alot of times the electrolyte is low so it kills the batterys performance. you can add distilled water if thats the case

I'm going to try this on a couple dead batteries I have. You can bet I will have a 50 or 100ft cord on it just to be on the safe side. Might get to it Wed night.

I was about 20 feet away from a car battery that exploded.
Car flipped over upside down on the old style post guard rails.
Sounded like a 45, HUGE flash.

I think we get 3 or 4 bucks core charge and often pleasantly surprised with
pro rated trade ins.

Safety first.
