Pushed my luck with the "boss" and picked up an 85 250sx last night. Not perfect by any means but functionally seems sound. Said he had just had the swing arm bearings changed and oils serviced. Fires right up with starter, lights work, tires hold air. First one I brought home that really doesn't need anything prior to riding!:Bounce Stitched front fender, a makeshift drive shaft boot, and an epoxied tank. All functional though. My only question at this point is the rear rack the one made for this model? Rack ends up not allowing the trunk lid to be opened. Thoughts?:wondering Only down side was the "boss" did hint around about "thinning the herd". She just don't understand! 143118143119143117143120143121

Nice bike might want to flip the back tires. Is that muffler loud?

Yea seen that too this evening while snapping pics. Probably whoever did the swingarm bearings swapped them when putting everything back on. It's actually just an exhaust tip he bolted onto the original muffler. He had a cooler type bag that went over the rear rack and he said he wanted to dissipate the heat further away. So its no louder than stock. Looks cool though. lol

That's why I tell my wife they are for her.. My wife has more 3 wheelers than I do.. lol

Yeah it would make me feel better about buying a bike from a guy who actually seen problems like that and fixed them instead of just hoping it worked out.

check rear end oil. Check axle tube bearings. You may just save it by checking it.

Looks to be a solid rider, nice pickup... that rack is very similar to one that was available for the sx, but if the trunk lid doesn't open, it's probably the same brand of rack for a different model and someone "made it work"

Is it possible it's mounted to far forward? Haven't looked at closely yet. Is there any adjustment front to back? I need about an 3/4" to 1" moved toward the rear for it to clear.

It bolts onto your grab bar, so unless you moved THAT...

This rack look exactly like mine. Not a single difference otherwise than its red. My trunk lid will open but will a little lid bending to make it go over the rack bar.
I think thats a stock SX rack. I know mine is a stock rack. You might wanna look in my gallerie to compare...

Thanks ailll1.....I did compare and they look to be identical. Like I said it won't take much (along with a little flex in the lid as you mentioned) and I could get it open. I believe I'll try and loosen all the mounting hardware and see if I can pull towards the rear any to give me enough clearance to at least access and utilize the trunk. Thanks again for pointing towards your pics!
