hello everyone , i picked up a mint metal gas tank and it had gas in it for 8 years and the stuff inside it looks like coffee grinds ... i put some chem dip in and some bolts in and shook it around but i need some better solution ??:confused:

I have heard muratic (sp??) acid works really good.

After reading some more seems that might be a little much and prone to re-rusting very quickly.

You tried evapo rust? I know they sell it at some tractor stores, like c&s. Also, you could try a search, there are like 20 on this topic. I tried the salt/vinegar mix on one tank, and didnt work out so good for me. I let it sit for 6 days, and shook it from time to time. Im thinking the evapo rust would be the way to go, but is spendy stuff.

Acid worked good use baking soda to nuetriz then rubbing alcohol worked great

muriatic acid vapors can cause permanent lung damage
but it does eat rust.

no , i didnt try the evapo-rust . but i did on my holley carb, it is for rust , but will clean metal , but it takes a long time. so i bought the chem-dip , that i heard so many good reports on , but after 2 days hasnt done much with the dried gas...
