Just an FYI: I have been told that the guys that do it on the quads are running sand paddles on the rear. I've never seen it in person or tried it, but it seems to make sense to me.

Probably a terrible idea. Don't know if you heard but three wheelers are very unstable :D

well i ride/race quads and it seems that alot of people can ride quads, yet not alot of people can ride trikes.. so thats y i prefer my trikes.. but i have 18 in holshots on my 350x.. ill try tomorrow

Here's me trying to skip across a puddle. Only thing you can see is my flag and I had my cell phone in my pocket.

I think a first gen R would be the best for water crossings. tons of power, big from tire for stability and slap some paddles on the back and giver hell

Yea , I made it but my phone was on the dash on the defrost vent all the way home to dry out. I was on a 86 250r. The puddle was deeper than I thought.

I've done a few 30-50 foot skips. You need a spot where the bank is near level with the water. Just hammer it and lean way back. Anything longer and i think paddles would be needed.

My cousin tried this on his 250sx. I think he had the same result.

I have seen quads hydroplane out in the dunes before though. I think it was a banshee and he was doing at least 65mph and had sand tires front and rear.

i tried it yesterday and i need to get bigger tires.. the puddle is about 20 feet long maybe 23? i hit it in 5th (55-60mph) and around 18 feet my back tires started sinking... i made it but i got soaked.. :D maybe ill find some 20's to put on the rear and try it agian.

I've done that on my 250r had a set of taller haulers paddles on and it just glided right across. A little sketchy but awesome feeling!!
