So I traded my R for two 250ax's. Both run great. But as always I'm looking for some items to get a little more out of them. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Top end speed is not something you can change. Going from a 2 stroke 250 to a 4 stroke, i can imagine being able to feel the difference. I am rebuilding an sx. I am putting a high compression piston in it, reseating the valves. However, not for performance as much but to rebuild it, and make it fresh. To wake up a 4stroke, you need to make it breathe. Better intake filter, and better exhaust. Otherwise unless you want to dump mad cash, drive the hell out of it as it is. Many people on here say the sx is their most used trike because its versatile. 2 for 1 is a good deal though!.

Also, i am not sure why there is a difference between the two, except their history's may be quite different. One might not have as good of compression. One might have clogged filters in the fuel lines, etc.

Thanks for all the info. Oh it came with a complete parts bike as well. So really 2 1/2 for one. And you don't want to know what I spent on the R originally.

Ment more tongue and cheek. There's alot of dedicated R people out there. And rightfully so. I loved mine but I needed something for my kids to ride. Dumb trade... I don't think so all things considered. But I will work on my "TITLE" wording for ya.

A super trapp exhaust, a stock 350X carb and a lightened flywheel will wake those ol' 250sx's up. If you really wanna get a little more kick outta them,then get a 10.25 high comp piston, maybe a little bit of porting and then to top it off you can go to web cam shafts and get yourself a mild cam. Another thing to remember, 250sx's are fun camp bikes and aren't really meant to be a rocket ship.


Don't forget to check your diff oil in your rear end too, if its milky replace it or just replace it anyhow just so you know its new.

To get around the speed issue I'm thinking a strong 300 will be able to pull 25 or maybe 27" tires with the 250SX diff. This will give it more top end, while the added torque should help it a little down low. For suspension I have a set of 350X forks for it and I'd do the TRX 300 swinger swap for a longer swingarm and a little more suspension.

I'll give these little suckers one thing...easy to wheelie!!! What a blast. Don't know if ill go that crazy with'em (got 6 others to tinker on at the same time. Maybe if I can get Sultry to take my Bandito off me ill start looking into some of these mods. Thanks for all the info.

250 sx 's are nice riders...I got mine with 3 new stock tires...the front tire comes up very easily, too easy!!! I use mine ice fishing and them stockies dig in on hard pack and wheelie right out to my ice traps....Flaggggtrailpro

2.5 for 1 sounds good.. I had a 250sx.. most reliable thing I have owned.. not the fastest either.. 2 stroke for a 4 stroke.. the 4 stroke will run and run and run... 2 stroke.. not so much.. take both 250 motors and put em on one trike.. there ya go lol
