So i took my trike for a ride today and broke my shifter lever. no big deal, was bent quite a bit and was time for a replace. untill i found out the shifter was welded to the shaft  grr... how hard are the shafts to replace? and would i have to take the case off?

i know on the 185's and 200's you take the right side cases off you dont have to pull out the motor or anything. it pulls out the right side after your get the clutch assembly off. i heard it was easy.

Really? If thats so, sweet! i think the clutch could use new springs anyways, so perfect time to put new gaskets, springs, and shaft.

Can you find a manual in the 'world class help' section?
Sometimes the search key will get you years of comments on a topic.

Last time I had to replace the shaft in my 86 250r i had to split the case and everything... Hell of a time. I figured out out to take an older shifter and make it so it won't do that. Also a good way to check and see if you will break it or not is wiggle it around while holding the shaft and see if there is any place in it at all if so I wouldn't even think of riding it. Here's a link that I used to buy me a new one! http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/43/53/218/950/-/3029/Tusk-Folding-Shift-Lever/TUSK+SHIFTER+LEVER
