Trike Stands

so im sitting here staring at my trike in the living room thinking how nice it would be to have a stand for it.

ive been searching for awhile and cant find any designs for a stand. I have a guy...Harold Furo at Furo Racecraft that does all my custom work on my ford lightning....the guy can make anything. so i called him up n he told me to draw something up and we can go from there.
id like a stand for the trike to sit on in the garage as i work on it or store it, possibly with caster wheels to slide it around as needed. this trike will be done soon and ill be building atleast 2 more.

i want a stand that balances the trike by hugging the frame somehow. my frames are all 85-86 250Rs.

once i have something made up and if it works well, we could easily pop out more if othes are interested. not sure how long itll be til ones done but i will be taking to this project very soon.

if anybody has any stands or ideas or tips that would be great.

I just copied a motorcycle stand design and fabbed up my own...

Embarrassed....... 5 gal pails here. I cover them with cloth if presentation is an issue. I've been eyeing up the aluminum stands offered at Harbor Freight. They're still not as economical as my pails. ;)

im GREEN i use blocks of wood (lol) my friend had a cool setup for his quad but i think he sold it with the quad

I use a pail also. The square kitty litter pails work great.(tidy cat I think). for changing the rear tires I have a modded swingarm stand that works well.

Need a stand for the Tiger 500. Kitty litter pail won't look too kosher at the races. LOL

Embarrassed....... 5 gal pails here. I cover them with cloth if presentation is an issue.In your signature pic, I always thought the 250R was sitting on your stack of Ohtsu flat-track tires. Is it actually sitting on a 5 gal. pail, and the tires are there to mask the disgusting, unsightly pail?

5 gallon bucket or milk crates. But if you have Harold making you a stand it should be worthy of the living room, make sure you give Harold hell about the sheep :)

lol yea i used to use my old rims. but id like a nice sturdy aluminum or chromoly stand that will look nice and be functional for my rebuilds or workin on my trikes. harold does amazing work. and i know it wont leave his shop til its perfect. once i get one done ill post up n see what everyone thinks.

Nah, but seriously... I have been using a milk crate, but have a bunch of 5 gallon buckets that I will probably start using. I have 2.5 three wheelers in my living room/ kitchen so it's not the bucket that is going to make me look like a redneck.

LOL, that's funny I completely forgot about that sig pic. Right under my nose too....
I did that one time for that picture, like one might of done at a race back in the day. (??? IDK)
Anyway, ya can't see it, but there is a towel on top of the Ohtsu's to keep from getting scrapes when I tilted the bike on top. Those tires are now in the rafters. Going to Harbor freight today in Madison. Might pick up a stand or two??

I use a "x" stand designed for a TRX250R. It has nylon straps up top, but I always lay carpet down. It is light weight, but I am unsure on prices as this one was given to me. They CAN'T cost that much, can they?????

I use the base from an ezlift chair. It's an electric lift and works perfect for getting the machine off the ground.

I just did my whole build on a craftsman job vise, worked really good and it was at the perfect height for working on.

I use old wheels , like Buster's sig. Buckets under each wheel will get it off the ground but what about storage and what if it don't have tires on it ? I like mine up in the air with nothing under the tires and off it's own suspension. Something like a regular bike lift with maybe retro fitted arms that reach out to brace the forks. The way i would imagine it anyways .

Milk carton here with rollers but with the larger trikes I use three. :lol: Yes that's a 350X front end on a 200X

I have been going the milk crate route, i want to just go out and get a bike stand. You know, the ones I think are ment for dirtbikes, like 10inch square top with made from metal with a rubber pad on top to keep from scratching the frame.

I like the wheels on the milk crate idea, trying to figure out how you attached them though

lol yes im single. and my trikes the coolest coffee table ever haha. im almost done with this trike. then the next build starts and when i have that frame tore down ill see what we can fab up for a stand.

Having scored the working mechanism (thanks to a dear friend!) from a E-Z chair with lift I now have a wonderful new (FREE) tool that is simple to use, stows away easy and just wonderful.
Took awhile to locate one of these things Ditchmud referred too in post #14 but well worth the wait.

I added caster wheels and plywood board + welded 1 peice in place ~ :)
