Well I need new tires for my 85 big red. But I am not to sure what to get. Any one have any sugestions

What are your riding conditions? Terrain, etc.

ive got a 83 200 atc and i have the same tires as a big red...ive got wolly boggers and there not a bad tire.it all depends on what kind of driving u do

Mostly trail, dirt, mud, water, snow, a basic all around good tire.

I would go with 22 inch buckshot mudders, they are are great all around tire, plus they are pretty hard to put a hole in, they are six-ply I think.

if you want something cheaper, Turf Tamers. if your looking for something better, i like blackwaters or mud sharks. since you can run 25's, you might look into the new Maxxis bighorn. i have had wooly boogers, buckshot mudders, OEM, turf tamers, and blackwaters on an 85 big red and liked the turf tamers the best. the blackwaters were second, and the only reason for that was price and wear on asphalt. i used to ride on the road to get to all of the regular riding places, sometimes 25 miles.

I have Carlise Strykers on my 350x. They seem perty good to me, and they can go through some stuff. Ive heard that Maxxis All Traks are a great tire and those will probably be my next pick. Talk to TimSr, I think he runs All Traks on his Tri-Z and 250R. ;)

be careful puttin smaller tires on a shaft drive bike, you can overrev them and burn them up.

i was looking at my tires they say 25-12.00-9 what are each of these number so i know what size to get

In inches,25 is the hieght,12 is the width and 9 is the rim size.

Some of you guys were saying that turf tamers are a pretty good tire?what are they like in snow?

I have a 225 dr with stock 22 inch tires.. . i should be able to hold it wide open with out having to worry about burning out the shaft/other shaft things. I know it wont be so great on like my engine but..... o well. :twisted:

Tell that to the guy I bought my Big Red from. He thought 22's would be a good idea. :rolleyes: I should take a picture of what the crankshaft look like after he killed it. :shock:

Slightly better than a racing slick. They are made for hard pack dirt surfaces, and are popular on tracks, but thats about the extent of their usefulness.
