250sx let down

found a great shape 250sx on kijiji the guy held it for me for a week until my day off to come look at it. i got there he had already started it.... i decided to take the air box lid off and have a look... no air filter to speak of it rotted off. checked the dipstick and there was basically no oil in it. it also had a bit of a top end knock. really sucks these things don't come up here often. i had to pass on it :cry: feel free to share your similar experiences

how much did he want 4 it ? those engines are a dime a dozen and if the rest of it was nice a probly woulda loaded it ! that is if the price is right...

he was asking 900 and it came with a spare engine not worth the hassle when i can pay 1300 for a show room bike and do nothing to it

ya 900 is insane .

It is Canada so not so many show up; But the low oil deal ruins it. Could run you 500-1000$ to repair an cam/head/rocker arms and shafts.

Not sure what year it was but I'd only buy an 86 or 87 anyhow......

Daniel. Dont listen to anyone about how hard trikes can be to find. Hell Ive bought a few 250rs and tecates cheap all the way out here In Nova Scotia. If you havent found what you are looking for. You havent looked hard enough.

ive been looking for 2 years on and off. problem is i have car and cant go the minute the add appears the rike market is big here though and they get pricey beater 200's go for 700 or 800 all the time

Same out here. Ive spent my share of money on my bikes. My Tecate I have about 5 grand invested with buying 2 parts tecates and a kx. Big reds and sx's go for around 12-3200. My buddy bought a mint big red for 3200.
