Ice Racing Trikes what kinda info from the old pros?

Hey guys ive been ice racing for a couple years now and im just starting to see some more guys come on trikes lately. ive got a 350x that performs ok but could be better i race non studded against 250x's mostly with the occasional 400ex and 300ex. some of you guys were there and tore up the ice in the late 80s what were some of the tricks...? what were the hot bikes that worked better ? hook me up with what u know Thanks

I'm not an old pro or even an ice racing amateur. But you need time, money and a set of forks that do not take some kind of mythical fork seals! LOL

I don't race unstudded, but the most important thing is tires.

ya i agree with that i run cut turf tamers that i soak with wd-40 to soften them up and they run about as good as cut hoosiers

Please teach me something. What is the trick to unstudded? Soft compound? Slicks? I've only raced studded.

I remember reading a thread in here about. There is a group up in Michigan that runs unstudded only, and apprently there is one tire that works pretty good, just dont remember which one.

Well there are many tricks to non studded and every guy is different but mostly the wide spread tire of choice is the hoosier and the first thing u do with those beauties is spent 10 hours cutting and sipeing them with a tire siper.... or u take turf tamers and take a tire siper and cut all the lugs in half and cut them all vertically with a grinder 3 times and them spray them with WD-40 and wrap them in plastic wrap to soften them .... Both applications u run like 2.5 -3 pounds of air in them with more air in the outside tire and almost zero in the front tire
