I am working on a 78 atc90 and trying to fig out the high/low lever. In low everything works but it dont seam like its in low and when I put it in high it wont do anything. Like its not in gear. Can someone school me on this a bit on how this works. Also I alot of guys seem to be removing these is there a write up on how its done?

i really should leave this up to pros to answerso hopefully someone else chimes in, but ive had 90s and 125s since i was a kid. we always have to rock the bike back and forth to get it to shift into from hi/low. i think i even did it as i was in gear. sometimes its a pain like switching gears on a 10 speed when your going the wrong speed.

its an obvious difference in speed once you switch it. ive never heard of anyone eliminating them, but if you did, id assume your sticking it in either HI or in LOW all the time. lows top gear is still pretty slow, but the extra low gear tourque is nice for hills especially if your 200lbs. if you can get it to work properly I'd wantg to leave the option there. i think the offical term is the sub-transmission?
