I have an 84 es big red. I was wondering what besides piston slapping or low oil would cause a mild "knock" in the engine when accelerating? Could it be the exhaust?

it could be a worn out connecting rod bearing.

Yeah my bigred does that and it peeves me off..............wish i knew what it was :(
