Ok, So Ive been riding my 85 250R this way for 3 years now and it seems sorta fine...

When the trike is cold and its in 1st gear and I pull on the clutch and try to move it its locked up and will not move. After Moving to neutral and starting I pull the clutch in and try to shift onto 1st gear... keyword being try. It wont go in. So, I let out on the clutch rev it up, pull in the clutch rev it up and then it shifts in fine.

I dont get this at all.... Its adjusted properly and all... The clutch is a real B!TCH to pull too, its like extra stiff especially with how tight I have the cable.

I have not pulled it apart to look at it... when I rebuilt the motor I just stuffed the basket back in as I had bought it and figured Id try it... i have not had it apart since because I can drive it just fine except cant move it in gear with it not running..... This is really starting to bug me now though and I dont know why lol....

New Discs, plates and springs are like $145 for the barnett and not much cheaper for anything else....

Anyone have any suggestions? Like could the pushrod be worn and just not pushing far enough? Or just discs with crap in them?

Thanks,

Roger

How are the edges of the fingers in the basket? Ridges? Might have HD springs, was it always hard to pull?

It has always been hard to pull....

I dont know how they are... havent had it apart. More or less Im asking what to look for when I do pull it apart... so I dont waste a teardown / reassembly then ask the questions lol

Thanks

I would replace the fibers, inspect steels, check fingers on basket. Take pics as you go. You dont have to, but I always mark my steels so they go back in as they came out. Dialcalipers help to measure tolances.Let us know how it goes.
