already had one miracle. was hoping for another. i was contacted by a forum member with one of these jimmy white number plates. its all broken apart and in pieces. we are investigating whether a good mold could be created from his plate. however, if someone else has a jimmy white number plate (see pics). please identify yourself - especially if you have interest to loan it for reproduction. thanks so much brothers!

there appears to be two versions of this number plate. one is pretty much rectanglur/square bottom. and the other has a small bottom. not sure if you can see that difference in the pics above and this image. either is highly appreciated!
actually. this one and the ones above may be exact. it seems this image has it mounted upside down though.

Nobody ???
Perhaps a little incentive,,, if you have one like sportvette is wanting and willing to loan out and all goes well you will have two, scratch that,,, THREE of them.
Your O.E.M. one returned to you unmolested along with TWO reproduction ones of what ever color you want.

i think we are a go with the broken one. a lot of work ahead of john there. good man!
fyi - i thought this "pet fence" from home depot would make a good screen replacement for number plates. not sure if there is better material out there. but this stuff doesnt really rip!

This right here is some cool beans boys...This box of plates and a ton of my NOS came from Leisure Distributing in Jersey Shore PA. The owner was Sid. We lost Sid to cancer awhile back. Sid was a great guy and could sell a tomato popsicle to a lady in a white dress and gloves at a hot wedding! To MY story here..Sid was THE Hoosier tire supplier to ALL of the Team Green,Honda and any top riders at ALL of the Nationals. If it had Hoosiers on it. Sid,or Rick ,his employee, grooved those tires. Period. Sid was also a distributor for Maier,Westcoast,Hoosier, Mitchell wheels,,Wiseco,,on and on. Anyhow,as Sid went down with cancer,,his helper Rick, purchased Leisure. When Rick decided to "clear out",he called me,And I bought it. NOW !! LOOK Carefully at the upper right corner of Jimmies # plate in pic # 2,,it is formed at an angle. The 3 other corners are just tabs for the rivets.I can ASSURE you that this is not just obviously THE plate you seek, but THIS box of plates sat next too,or WAS THE box THAT plate came out of! NOTE the Rick or Sid{ almost Surely Rick} grooved Hoosiers all the way around. I'm gonna throw this out there. I have turned down $200 a plate. One is a member on here. One was a local who wants the entire box. I RESPECT and VERY much Appreciate ALL you have done for,and are doing for the sport Jon,,but What do I do here? A copy will never be these originals,,,,,,,but...

I agree with you Bill, a reproduction part will NEVER be worth what a OEM part is worth. Not even in the same ball park.
That is why I do what I do. Not too make NOS OEM parts loose thier value, but rather so ordinary working guys like most all of us can have new usable parts in a price range that is affordable.
To a true collector, my parts are basically worthless trinkets.
For the folks that actually race and want something a bit nicer then a paper plate on the front of the trike that they have invested so much of thier time and money into, afordable reproductions is whats needed.
Sportvetta found a fella who is willing to loan out, it is broken in a couple of area and will require many hours work, at least 2 different molds (if not 3) to be made before a nice part can be pulled so if I could borrow one of yours it will certanly make this task a heck of a lot easier for me (please).

Very true,,but it still detracts from the value of them being Very hard to come by. The member on here who wanted red has searched the WORLD over. Trust me,he is pretty well versed at tracking things down! And he says this is it for color selection. We all know somewhere there are plates still in the wrapper. But he hasn't found them. And I don't expect Any single person to appreciate and understand what I have done. It is madness. I have sacrificed a lot to collect what I have. I know of only 1 other with it worse. You POOR guy! And he is Working,,as hard as I had to work in the past ,to do it. 3 jobs at last count..I'm gonna help out,I think you know that. But I am 100% shooting myself{ my family} in the foot doing so.. 3wheelers and their Parts are not just machines to me. I have tried to build something for my family. Hoping someday,,3 wheelers may not be on the stage at Barret Jackson,,but very sought after. And I truly believe they will be. Someday.. I'll pm ya my #,and we can talk..

It has been decided to forward with reproducing the number plate used on Jimmy Whites, as pictured in the first posting of this thread.
I personally have decided against copying Maire Plastics reproduction interpretation of the JW plate (that has several subtle but distinct differences) simply due to the fact I have GREAT respect for Maire still catering to the three wheel community with their parts and allowing us to do group buys for certain non stock colors. Besides that, they can break out the mold at any time and run a couple thousand pieces by noon if they so choose.
