Hey guys, this is probably a dumb question, but, I am running standard compression. Not sure what it is but I checked it a while back and the 3 wheeler world guys said that was normal, not too high. When I get it started after I break my foot and shin, it idles great and screams. What causes it to kick back so bad? I have a banshee, two CR250Rs and a kx250, and they arent too bad to start, but this one is a monster.
thx

my old 300r would kill my foot if i didnt go 1/4 the way down then kick. idk why but started great and easy if i went that far down.

That was how my 84 250r was, sometimes it would bite back. You just need to get a routine down to starting it. On mine I usually push down on the kicker slow until it drops easy, then let it all the way up and kick hard one time - that would usually fire it every time first kick. That is also how I have to fire my cr500 and lt500r, those bikes really bite back hard.

My 85 has bit me a couple times. The dreaded shin smack. That REALLY hurts and the scars/knots on my shin will never go away.

I have a trx that kicks back like that. It's compression is a little over 200. I have learned how to crank it finally without killing my foot. I make sure I have boots on whenever I try to start it. Then I kick it several times slowly until it starts to kick back then the 1st time it doesn't kick back I man up and kick hard and hope it doesn't kick back the next time. Somebody told me that a cr ignition would solve this but I want to keep the headlight on it.
