the carb on my 350x has been giving me grief and im looking for some more power so im thinking about a reman keihin qb10 off a 400ex or maybe even like a keihin fcr but im not sure how much fuss it woud take to rig it all up, and if the performance gain would be worth it anyway. Anybody ever tried this or any thoughts???

I have a 38mm FCR on 350X and its freakin awesome! It takes quite a while to get it jetted right, but when its all said and done its great. Ultra crisp throttle response, and a little more power. I'd recemend getting a 37 if you motor is stock. Nothing bigger than a 38mm, it would way to big for a stock piped motor. You need to grind the throttle stop in your carb (So it'll reach WOT) and get a 2006 trx450R throttle cable.

Its a pretty straight forward swap (Other than jetting is a pain the ass) ,and other than trying to fit it into the stock intake boot on the motor lol (That being said ,you better put your hussel into your muscle and start going at it like Chuck norris on crack because its a extremely tight fit.

i have a supertrapp silencer and a k&n airbox filter already on it, and im planning on putting in a higher compression piston and maybe a cam this year so with those mods would the 38mm still be the best? and is a 38mm fcr right off an 06 trx450r?

Why a 450r cable? I was told a 350x cable will work. First ive heard of grinding too. Ive already got my carb but havent put it on. Whete do you live and what kind of jetting did you settle on? Just trying to clear up my soon to be issues lol of course minds going on a sprock 400

I'm not sure if trx450r's have fcr's or not,and if they did they'd be like a 39-42mm (Waaaay to big for what you wanna do).

So no a 38mm FCR is not off a TRX450r.( As far as I know)

All FCR carbs off of the newer 250 dirt bikes (Doesn't matter what brand it is yammy's,kawi's suzuki's honda's they're all nearly the same) just be sure to check and make sure that its 37-38mm, any bigger for you setup and it would be to much.

The setup on my 350x is plain and simple, 38mm FCR lightened flywheel and a super trap pipe from header out. (Motor is original and stock). It works perfectly.I'd say a 38mm would be perfect for your set up your gonna run. A 37mm would be perfectly fine too, I wouldn't a see difference in the power at all if it was me and was my bike. Also, I would recemend some mild porting with everything you wanna do, its a night and day difference(Like icing on the cake :D). Oh,one other thing () lighten up that fly wheel baby! That right there is the best thing you can do to a 350X.

This is My opinion ONLY, I'm not trying to start anything up.

I will take a FCR pumper carb for a 4 stroke any day over a lectron . Lectrons are finicky and can't keep a tune even if your life depended on it!! Strictly a Drag race'n carb only . I would never recemend a lectron for the average joe's DAILY rider. I'd go with what works and what several people have done 100 times than try something uncommon, irregular, and outdated. (Again my opinion Only). Now don't get me wrong, lectron makes great alcohol carbs for drag racing, but thats all they are good for and nothing else.

Well whoever told you a 350x cable will work is hella dumb because a 350x cable is too short by a long shot. You need a 2006 trx450R cable. For a sprock 400 with cams, porting and a pipe, I'd still stay with a 38mm because with a fcr, a little goes a long ways since these carbs have sooo much volume.

If you wanna go into any real detail then PM me and I'll give you my number.

i wish you could ride my 350x bored to a 482cc with a 40mm bored to a 41 1/2mm lectron !! it sits there and purs all day long , awsome throttle response with no dead spots from top to bottom , i've had this carb for almost 10 yrs and all i've had to do is adjust the idle once in a great while ! also i think a 37 or 38mm is a lil big for a fairly stock 350x !! plus i like the clear float bowls to set float levels and it looks cool to see purple race gas in there .. just my to cents .. im sure they all have there pros and cons but this is what i like .. herd alot good things about 400ex carbs on a lightly modded 350x ..

Now I have to agree on the clear float bowls, thats just plain awesome.

400EX carbs are ok(Ish) for a lightly built 350x, I have one on my fathers 350X thats got a STD wiesco 10.25 piston, 102MC cam, mild porting (Well a little more than mild), and a Super trapp with a open end cap. This is a great trail rider set up, but in my opinion, a fcr is more suited for the job.

I'll see if I can get some time to take some pics of the FCR setup on my 350X later today and maybe even a video.
