Hey guys, man i am getting frustrated. I have had to do so many replacements on this bike, and i have only been able to ride it once before it crapped out again. Ok, heres the deal. I got to ride it once, but then after i killed it and restarted it again, it ran really high, and i couldnt fix it. So, i took it to my uncle's house, and he fixed that. But, when he took it on a test ride, the 17mm bolt on the carb fell out and gushed gas everywhere. So, i finally replaced that, and he said it would be rideable, but its not. Whenever i try and start it, its an absolute mother to start. I'll have to kick it like 10 times before it will start idling without dying, and even then, it will die usually after about 15 seconds. Then, when i do get it idling, whenever i try to rev it, it will sputter and die. Once this happens, i cant kick it over for a very long time. Also, whenever it is idling and i try to adjust the idle, it wont change at all. Also, if i try to start the bike with the choke up, it wont start either. Im almost positive that the problem is a bad carb/timing issue. What do you guys think? Im really in desperate need of some help, any input is needed. Thanks again guys.

Well, you said a bolt came out of the carb, right? You probabyl got some dirt or something in there. Clean your carb, check your jetting, and your timing. Maybe your timing chain hopped a couple teeth?

Yes, I too think it is a carb issue. Buy a Moose rebuild kit for 15 bucks and thoroughly clean all passageways. By the way I think you emailed me for a kill switch. I think I have one. I'll check this weekend. Bob

Yea, i am ordering a stock carb that works from this person for 20 bucks including shipping. After that, i think i will rebuild it. As for the timing, looking at the pages in the manual, it looks like a chore that i dont think i could complete by myself. Do you guys think that a honda dealer could do the timing job on it? thanks again.

To check timing is simple. Do you have a timing light? Hook it to a 12v pwr source, clamp the do-dad around the plug wire, open the inspection hole, start engine, shine gun in hole. Simple. When you shine in hole you are checking to see that the 'f' mark is lining up with groove in inspection hole. The 'f' mark also usually has a white dot w/ it. Now you have 'checked' timing. To adjust timing, remove CDI cover, now the outer ring is what controls timing. Loosen the two screws and rotate the plate either fwd or bkwd to get the 'f' mark to line up. This may sound involved, but when you see it you'll understand. Hope this helps.
