So when I built my tri z, I seemed to overlook that the frame I was using had stripped footpeg hole. I tried tapping them with absolutely no success. I know from the 3 tri z's I have had its a pretty common problem, I did a search and couldn't find any threads on fixes for them. So I thought I would share how I fixed mine.

So what I did was get some grade 9 steel bolts from brafasco, I cut them to length (couldn't find threaded rod hard enough). I then tapered the footpeg hole so I could weld it. I then cut a window in the bottom of the frame, so I could see the back of the rod when it was threaded into the hole.
I welded the bolts through the window at the back to keep them from pulling out. I then welded the bolts to the frame from the front side, then welded my window on the frame shut.
I then grinded the weld on the outside down, and hand filed it perfectly flat so the footpeg bracket fits flush to tthe frame. This way I can just throw a nut and lockwasher on and go riding, here's a couple of pics to show how It looks, I should have taken some process pics, but I wasn't thinking, I hope you get the idea from looking at it.

I'm sure if you wanted to cut the cap off the front you could maybe weld in some heavy duty nuts on the back and close it back up, but this seemed like aa good idea to me. I'm sure lots of you guys have fixed this problem, and I wouldn't mind you chiming in on how you guys did it aswell.
Anyway, just one off the last little details to getting my tri-z finally finished so I can start my 110, hope you like it.

Nice job, i had a buddy do something similar we cut the caps off then welded bolts right to the frame, then welded new plates around them.

Nice work, I have a stripped one to fix also.

I did a search and couldn't find any threads on fixes for them.

That's all fin and dandy,, but your still only welding to 1/8 steel... there still gonna bend and droop.

Ya I never saw your fix until now, that's a way better way to fix it, next time they break I'm going to do what you did with the plates. I'm not in love with the studs but they work for now, but we'll see how they hold up.
Did you ever make footpegs using the stock brackets?
I don't like how far forward they are on my mounts, but that's where they were stock. I'm going to make another set with brackets I made myself when I get time.

I cut off the frame mounts and rebuilt it out of 1/2" plate,it will never bend now.I put up some pics of it awhile ago..I like your idea to..

Atleats if they ever stripped, you could re-tap the plates. When I tried to re-tap thee stock ones, 2 of the nuts welded in behind broke off inside. I have another frane and the same thing happened, the previos owner drilled right through the back, through the tube, and put a nut on the other side on an angle.
Did anyone have a problem with the pegs themselves bending?
