You need some better pic's kinda hard to tell from one small pic. There great bikes for about everthing. looks to see if the diff oil is clean. The 85's rear axles arn't sealed the greatest.

I just bought one and it's a great machine. CHECK DiF OIL!! Mine was all water and looked like water and mud that came out... I have been replacing it every time I ride

There is a bolt. Right at the back of it towards the bottom. 17mm I believe. Open it and check color. Should be pinkish-red. Dark or watery or muddy =bad

Not that it couldn't be, but I've never seen 90w that was that color.

You sound like you're talking about ATF.. Most 90w is a bit darker than honey.

Milky/murky is bad!!

Change it often, especially when riding involves water.

No it's 80w-90. That's what the manual calls for And yes it's red just like ATF

Check swing arm bolts and all, to make sure their not all rusty. Had hell trying to replace the bearings, Looks like it is nice. Garage kept

But all in all I have a Tecate and I just got this 85 250sx and it's an amazing bike. I would get it. Just make sure you check that differential fluid and make sure it starts kick and electric. Listen for any valve noise and if it starts first kick. Check reverse and all gears. Also your shifter shaft play. About 3/4 inch up and down is about perfect. Tires. Brakes. Check the rack for bends or cracks. Gas tanks petcock leakss? Lol bring a 10,12,14&17mm wrench =] I can't stress it enough to take that bolt off the back and check that DiF fluid!!!!

the price sounds a bit high but if its in as good a shape as the itty bitty pic shows id say its in the ball park, i bought a 250sx for $50 that had been sitting outside for about 10 years, after some new tires, a tank and carb clean out, it has been the most reliable trike ive owned, it has never broke down, so in terms of reliability its a 10, its not the fastest thing on the trail, but its a keeper none the less....

I agree^^^ I paid $500 for mine and all it needed was a brake cable and oil and DiF fluid change. I put a new air filter in and haven't had any issues at all accept for the breather in the fuel cap is clogged but should take me 5-15 minutes to clean

It's clean. If the dif fluid checks out and kick and electric works and everything works and is in good shape I'd offer him $700-$725. Is he very firm?

On our side of the border that is a deal, Jason..but over there, not too uncommon. I'd try and hook a bit lower, like say around the $700.

I saw one yesterday on CL for $650 in about that shape down near Detroit. I was drooling over the thought of going to get it then I went to the cookie jar to check the funds...and well lets just say I stopped drooling!!

If anyone has a few bucks stashed and wants to make the drive over let me know..I'll send you the link.

The rack in the picture of Keepah Rolln's picture is a Hondaline. It matches mine and it still has some of the Hondaline sticker on it. I also have a factory front rack somewhere.
