ok guys i am trying to put a big red rim on the front of my SX and it seems it is too wide. the 8" rim that was on the front, the valve stem is bad so I thought I would put the spare big red rim we have which is a 9" rim on the front of my SX. it appears its too wide. has anyone ever done this swap before? if so how did you do it? i cannot get the hub and tire and rim assy to go between the forks. help! :wondering

Oddly enough,no, A 25/12/9 tire will not go where a 22/11/8 goes. It won't work.

I just learned that a Big Red front axle is quite a bit longer than an sx... like 2-3 inches longer. I didn't measure but would I assume the hub is wider as well.

yea the sx front forks are narrower than the Big Reds, so you can't use swap front tires. Of course you can put any size wheels on the rears, just need the 4/110 bolt patterns and an offset that works with your set-up. i.e. 2-5, 3-5, 2-6, 3-6 etc. We just put some older 25/12/9 Bearclaws on the rear of an 250sx we just picked up. Those wheels were on a BR, but we all upgraded to 26's and 27's so the 25's were just sitting around.

I need to get some 22" tall tires for the rear. the 25" tall tires on the rear and the 22" tall tire on the front makes the turning real touchy. i had a tube put in the front tire today because it is kinda dry rotted and i dont like airing it up everyday so i had the tire shop put a tube in it
