I've purchased a shift spindle for an 83 250R on E-bay and it's longer than the damaged one I'm replacing. The added length causes the spindle to hit the frame. The seller told me i may have the wrong year wheeler or the spindle i took out may not have been original. I have several motors though, so i think he may be blowing smoke.

Does anyone know the actual length of the stock shift spindle? Any resources online that would have that kind of information?

Part Number is: 24610-964-000

I'll put up pictures and measurements shortly.

Looking to buy a good shift spindle, no cracks, decent splines! Will pay in cash, not chickens (unless requested).

81/82 and 83/84 used different shift shafts. It was because the frames changed some. what frame do you have? The shafts are interchangable. I have a air-cooled motor in parts, I haven't looked it at in awhile, are your cases red or black? I believe my motor is red.

i am having a similar problem i stripped the spline out of my shifter no big deal just weld a new end on my old shifter wrong! i cant find a shifter that will fit the shaft size there all to small and the only one i found on ebay was $42 and it used i think thats crazy for a used shifter. does anyone one where to get a new shifter or how to solve this problem?
