^^^ in a nutshell ^^^ But if you find an 86-87 Tecate with a few choice bits on it for cheap.. you can sell them and pretty much fund most of your build.. (airbox, nos r/h shroud, radiator overflow, '87 keyed ignition, etc.)

2 stroke all the way. I don't mind 4's but why do it in 4 strokes when you can do it in 2? =]

A first gen. is much cheaper to buy and easier to find parts for but its all relative. a well built 84/5 will bring 1500.00 tops. compared to 3000.00+ for an 86 even more for an 87. If you plan to hold on to it a first gen. is the way to go .if you "may" sell it someday you will lose your ass on it.

i'm all about building and collecting..i'll sell quads db's trucks, but not my 3 wheelers.i'm prob goin to go with a 1st gen to start off..i'll work my way to the 2nd gen tecate in the future.2 strokes are bad ass and i need my collection to get under way.

a buddy of mine had an 86 and 87 tecate..he picked them up at a swap meet and sold them both for 800 & 700..i didnt know he had them untill after he sold them, but he took a beating..he could have sold them for waaaayyy more and they were in VERY good shape
