New ATC350x pullout motor... '85??

I bought a new 350x "pullout" motor... planning to build a stroker motor either with it or with my original engine. Anyway, got to looking closer at it and by the engine number and other details (clutch cable bracket location, cam chain tensioner type, etc...) this engine is a '85 model!! Isn't that odd? I thought all the new pullout motors would be '86s, since that's when they were outlawed... right?

Note, I have actually had 2 350x new pullout motors, and the other one definitely WAS a '86 motor (used with the Powroll 250x-350x conversion kit to put into a TRX250x).

Anyone else seen a new '85 crate engine?

If it wasn't sold as of 86 I would say they stripped it also!

i agree...when the bann took place you have to assume there were still some 85's at some dealers

Doesn't matter year OR model. When the consent decree went in,,any and ALL 3 wheeled atv's were destroyed. I've seen 85's X's,R's and S's

Oh, that's right. Makes sense, models that were still on the dealer floor when the ban went into effect were destroyed as well.
