My Tecate is bored and ported... Aftermarket exhaust and fresh jet and new intake boot. I'm looking to upgrade my ignition... What's the best thing to do to get a strong aggressive spark to get a better running and faster and more efficient bike here?? 88 kx stator, CDI box, and flywheel and coil. Maybe?

you will gain a few rpms and how fast it revs but will lose a ton of torque. unless your running WFO all the time its not a good trade off IMO.

You don't want too much top end horsepower unless you're just gonna drag race all the time. I traded out my ported Tecate jug for a KX jug and I don't like the power it makes now. I swear it was faster with the Tecate jug. My theory is that the trike, with more rotating mass than the KX dirtbike, actually needs that low end grunt for the extra load of not only the increased rotating mass but also the increase in traction. I dunno, call me crazy.
I tend to think a Tecate is better off with a fairly heavy flywheel for the same exact reason.
I prefer a stock "Swiney Special" or a Ricky Stator flywheel.

True I just wanted opinions. I think I'll just send it out to be redone and keep it

I too have noticed what Fabio is saying. My tecate has a near new 1983 kx 250 motor in it and boy do I miss the low end of the tecate jug.

Fabio. You say you think it was better with a ported Tecate jug vs. kx jug? I guess it depends on where you want your power.

That is exactly what I'm saying.
I love drag racing and I prefer the "Punch in the face" type of power an old pinger delivers. My Tecate used to pull the front end up in any gear up until fourth when accelerating at full throttle. It would chug up hills at such a low RPM it amazed me. Then I'd line it up for drags and revved her until she screamed, no mercy. It pulled right through the entire RPM range. I was more amazed by the amount of low end torque it made. The full throttle punch I was expecting, but not the usable low end torque. Especially from a non-powervalved motor.
With the KX jug it has no bottom end torque and and is more of a tap on the shoulder than a punch in the face when I wind it out. If I had it set up the way it used to be it would have fared much better at the drag strip during Trikefest 2011. One thing I do know- I run the stock 34mm round slide Mikuni. Many guys have told me I have to get rid of that. My argument back is that I've ridden TecateDan's Tecate with the KX jug and a 38mm Mik. I wasn't super impressed.
I run a CRF pipe, 20" RAZR's, Ricky Stator flywheel and stator, 14/42 gearing, the stock air box, and a ported Tecate jug regularly. The KX jug is on there for now though.

Nice man I like your take on the set up an your set up is sweet. My stock round slide stays on it. I haven't check tooth count on my set up yet but I will tomorrow after work. I found a guy that has axle bearings and seals and an entire gasket set including top end for $30 so I have to get them. Such a good deal. It came with a 300 jet but it runs rich.. I have the 270,280&290 on the way but I have a new 260 at my shop. I wanna work down so I don't lean I out too much for th plug chop

Punch in the face.I love it. I do alot of serious off roading in ares you really shouldnt run a clutch bike but I do. And I have to rev the piss out of it to go anywhere. Im waiting on a crank to put my Tecate motor back together.
