So I am on the cusp of getting my newly rebuilt ATC250R running. The petcock leaked, so I got a new gasket (with the 4-holes) and now it is still leaking! Are there more parts I can replace in there or any tricks to make it seal? I'm getting down to the wire before a trip over Xmas that I really wanted to try this thing out on.

When you say its leaking! where is it leaking from?

It's leaking from out of the lever, not at the tank base, but from where the lever rotates, that's where I thought changing the 4-hole gasket would do the trick.

There is a oring that goes around that handle (on off) valve replace that oring and put some grease on the oring very light. buy the whole kit from motoworld very cheap and works perfect!!

The four hole gasket is for shutting off the fuel too the carb and opening the reserve and on outlet.

I take steel wool and smooth the lever surface and lube lightly for a good seal.

I'll check out that o-ring. There wasn't one when I took it apart, just a small washer/gasket thing and a wave washer. The o-ring sounds like it'd seal it up.

Wow, do you own a third gen 250r? Talk about mis-information, these valves can be rebuilt for a $.95 o-ring and $10 four hole gasket. A new valve from honda is around $70. I posted the part numbers in the linked thread. All 250r owners should order a handful to keep Honda making them, even if they work for the trx250r. I seem to replace them once a season as they shrink, flatten, and get hard which makes them leak.

Hell I even rebuilt the stock one on my 350x! I Know everybody is going say how the hell did you do that when there not rebuildable!!!! Very simple, you drill out the rivets replace the orings and put 3mm bolts back in it!! DONE.

Think I got it fixed. I found two small, tiny holes in the lever that were leaking fuel out. I patched them up and put it back together with the seal and wave washer that were originally in it and its been holding gas. I'll keep the o-ring fir future use. See if I can get the thing fired up today for the first time! Thanks for all the help and p/n info.

I have read a few threads on here in the past and been told that the CR125 CR250 petcocks will fit the R tanks. They only have an Off and on..No reserve. They can be bought new on Ebay for 30 bucks..I have not done it myself yet, but I need one, and will be trying one out before too long.

Hey Badass,

I'm rebuilding my 350x petcock as well (which is why I've searched and resurrected this old thread). I've got it all apart (just ground off the head of the rivets) and just want to confirm if you used the part numbers listed above in thread linked to my Monroemike? I'm going to order a handful of each part number to keep on-hand, but wanted to confirm that these are the parts that work on the 350X.

For reference, the parts that were in the other thread and posted by Mr Clean were:
O-ring (tank to petcock seal): 16997-467-000
4 hole gasket: 16955-HA2-005
Selector Valve X-ring: 16963-HB9-005

For what it's worth, I've compared my 350X petcock to the one on my 250SX and they look exactly the same... so I think (pending confirmation of a match to the 350x) that these 250R parts will work on the SX too.

Thanks!
